Climate action and nuclear disarmament: Edinburgh event

February 9, 2015

As part of Innovative Learning Week at Edinburgh University, Healthy Planet (Edinburgh) are hosting an event to explore the health co-benefits of tackling climate change and nuclear weapons.

Biggest Threat or Greatest Opportunity? A Health Response to Climate Change

50 George Square G.06 Central Area, Edinburgh

Thursday 19th February, 7pm – 9pm

The UCL-Lancet Commission in 2009 claimed that climate change is “the biggest health threat of the 21st Century”. How has the health community responded to this? What can be done to advocate for a healthier and more peaceful future? Come and explore the links between climate change, health and nuclear weapons, and ways in which we can both improve health and stop climate chaos.

ICAN UK’s Rebecca Sharkey will join speakers from Medact, Healthy Planet and Friends of the Earth. After the speakers and some short films, there will be time for discussion in small groups.

This event is free, but you can book your place here. Everyone is welcome.
